Chunghwa Telecom is the only Taiwanese Carrier Awarded the “Brand of the Year” by the World Branding

The World Branding Forum awarded 220 well-known national, regional and global brands from 30 countries as the winners of the 2016-2017. World Branding Awards  on September 20 in London.

Chunghwa Telecom was the only Taiwanese telecom operator to win the national “Brand of the Year” of Taiwan for the second year, demonstrating its outstanding brand value and customer loyalty.

According to WBF, the organization’s brand valuation process evaluates and ranks companies based on financial performance, as well as advertising, public relations, marketing and social media engagement activities. This year, WBF particularly saw a huge increase in public participation, with over 120,000 people voting in the survey around the world. “Chunghwa Telecom has made this incredible achievement by providing products and services that were highly regarded by consumers. A brand cannot win this Award without the support of consumers, and the general public as large part of the scoring process is dependent upon their support. This is indeed a remarkable feat for Chunghwa Telecom,” said Peter Pek, Chief Executive of the WBF.

Chunghwa Telecom has maintained its commitment to practicing its core brand value, “Always Ahead” – a value for which it has continuously been awarded by the global community.

Ms. Fu Fu Shen, Assistant Vice President of Public Affairs of Chunghwa Telecom, said at the awarding ceremony that in addition to being the only telecom operator in Greater China included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (“DJSI”) World as well as DJSI-Emerging Markets for the past four years, Chunghwa Telecom, as the leading Taiwanese telecom player with its solid brand value, advances its record by taking home the national-tier “Brand of the Year” award in 2016. Chunghwa Telecom, alongside other well-known telcos, like China Mobile of China, Singtel of Singapore, Telecom Italia of Italy and SK Telecom of South Korea, has become a national brand benchmark as acknowledged by the WBF.

According to the WBF, the national-tier WBA winners should be truly exceptional household names in their home countries. As the award winner that has been such a large part of the Taiwanese people’s lives for decades, Chunghwa Telecom will continue its commitment to advancing broadband and mobile technology as well as to exploring digital convergence services to enable a smart and convenient digital life for people, families and enterprises.
