South Korean telco has been linked with Vivendi’s Maroc Telecom.
South Korean mobile operator KT Corp. said Friday it is considering buying a stake in a Morocco telecommunications company.
It didn’t name the company. A regulatory filing from KT said no decision has been made.
A Reuters report earlier this week said the South Korean company may bid for French conglomerate Vivendi S.A.’s 53% stake in Maroc Telecom.
In June KT suspended plans to buy 20% of South Africa’s Telkom S.A. Ltd. because of opposition from that country’s government.
KT is looking overseas for growth opportunities because the domestic market is saturated.
