Thirty (30) units of Samsung GALAXY Tab S and thirty (30) units of YES Broadband Huddles were donated to Hospis Malaysia in an official handover ceremony at Hospis Malaysia’s centre in Cheras to upgrade its patient management system. The new system aims to improve the quality of patient care and ease the process of auditing and research for the organisation. The ceremony was attended by Lee Dong Yong, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn. Bhd., Wing K. Lee, CEO, YTL Communications and Dr Ednin Hamzah, CEO and Medical Director of Hospis Malaysia.

Earlier this year, Hospis Malaysia developed a web-based enterprise application to upgrade its patient management system called “Hospis Malaysia Management System”. The upgrade from recording patient data and assessments on paper files to having a synchronised programme that can be accessed instantly by each member of the clinical team is another step towards improving the quality of patient care provision. The newly developed web-based system accessed with the Samsung GALAXY Tab S enables better documentation, easier tracking of patient information and ultimately improves efficiency of patient care.

“We are very pleased to be in collaboration with Hospis Malaysia, being able to support in providing our devices to facilitate convenience, mobility and efficiency of daily work routines,” said Lee Dong Yong, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn. Bhd.

“Having the largest 4G footprint in Malaysia, we are uniquely qualified to power the next generation of digital healthcare in the country. The Huddle makes an excellent mobile companion for the Samsung GALAXY Tab S so that Hospis Malaysia staff members can access Internet on the move. We hope that through our contribution, medical doctors and nurses at Hospis Malaysia can update patient information on-the-go to improve palliative care,” said Wing K. Lee, Chief Executive Officer, YTL Communications.

“This paperless system also enables instant communication between members of the clinical team to ensure a quick turnaround with referrals, medications, reporting and auditing of patient cases. The support received from Samsung Malaysia and YTL Communications will certainly enhance the management of our patient information,” said Tham Su Ming, General Manager of Hospis Malaysia.
