Today, Rogers Communications introduced Rogers Live TV in beta, an app that lets customers stream live TV channels on their iPads.

Marking a Canadian industry first, the app gives Rogers customers the freedom to watch shows from anywhere in the home, including places like the kitchen, bedroom and office, offering a seamless entertainment experience.
“We want to give customers the ultimate flexibility and ensure they’re able to watch TV anywhere on any device,” said David Purdy, VP Video Products, Rogers Communications. “Rogers Live TV app is a key component of our TV Anywhere vision and lets customers experience live TV on their tablets seamlessly and as part of their current entertainment package.”
The Rogers Live TV app is available via WiFi to Rogers digital television customers in Ontario who subscribe to Rogers Hi-Speed Internet with a MyRogers account. At launch, customers will be able to stream 20 channels through their iPad, with more channels coming soon.
“With the adoption of tablets, the mindset that TV shows are watched only on a television set is fading,” said Purdy. “The Rogers Live TV app is one more market first from Rogers and builds on our TV innovations, including live-streaming on multiple platforms of Blue Jay and Maple Leafs games, and provides customers even more real-time access to live content.” The Rogers Live TV app will officially launch in early 2012. A version for Android tablets will be available soon.
