The latest survey commissioned by the British Psychological Society shows that the use of smartphones has a direct influence on users’ stress levels.

The survey was conducted on 100 Britions of different professions who had to undergo a psychometric stress test. They were also asked about interactions they were having with their smartphones throughout the day.
The results of the tests showed stress levels of these individuals increased based of the number of times they checked their texts and email.

The survey also mentioned a smartphone’s “helpful-stressful cycle,” which refers to buying a smartphone to get some help in managing workload, however, with very frequent notifications and permanent connectivity to network communication users feel resentful towards the device.

On the other hand, stress levels dropped a bit when users checked work related email.Richard Balding, a BPS Psychologist from the University of Worcester, commented that, “Organisations will not flourish if their employees are stressed.” “So it is in their interest to encourage their employees to switch their phones off; cut the number of work emails sent out of hours, reduce people’s temptation to check their devices,” he added, as reported by GSM Arena.
