Assuming a pioneering role in environment and sustainability by acting with “corporate citizen” responsibility, Türk Telekom continues its works with the sustainability committee established in 2010 by implementing this understanding in all business processes.

Türk Telekom is the first telecommunication company which reports to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) by measuring its carbon emissions in Turkey in 2011. In terms of methodology and transparency, Türk Telekom has been elected as one of two companies submitting the best report, ahead of several other companies.
As the leading communication and convergence technologies company in Turkey, Türk Telekom is continuing to work on environmental sustainability with the aim of creating a better future for the next generations. Acting with this vision, Türk Telekom has identified its sustainability targets and implemented the process for developing a greenhouse gas management strategy. Accordingly, Türk Telekom aims to become the leader in its sector in managing climate change risks as well as environmental sustainability. Türk Telekom is also implementing the “Environment Friendly Communication” campaign, involving Türk Telekom employees, their families, suppliers, investors, customers and the public.
Türk Telekom started its sustainable development program with the solar energy panels installed for backing up energy in the beginning of 90s. Today, there are 52 locations. Türk Telekom also established a “sustainability committee” at the CEO level in 2010. Aiming to create a better future for the next generations with the leadership of the committee, Türk Telekom has transformed its office applications and business processes according to the principles of sustainability. Accordingly, in 2011 Türk Telekom was the first telecommunication company reporting from Turkey to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)* by measuring its carbon emission. As a result of the evaluations carried out among the companies reporting to CDP, Türk Telekom has been named one of the best two companies reporting to CDP in terms of methodology and transparency.
Türk Telekom uses its headquarters and its network of 24 thousand employees and buildings all over Turkey to carry out large scale feasibility studies related to low carbon and sustainability in its business applications.
