ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, announced it has entered an agreement to provide managed services to Colombian mobile operator Comcel.
The deal will make ZTE the largest managed services provider in the country. As part of the agreement, ZTE will provide managed services equipment including BTS and power equipment.
Owned by Mexican telecommunications company, América Móvil, Comcel has 30 million subscribers and is the largest mobile operator in Colombia.
In 2011, ZTE signed a contract to provide managed services to Telefónica-Telecom, the largest fixed line operator in Colombia. The company’s agreement with Comcel means it will provide services to more than 6,000 sites, the most of any provider in Columbia.
“We are pleased with the expansion of telecoms services in Colombia and the South American market,” said ZTE Columbia Vice President Zhang Dianjun. ”The agreement with Comcel will help the operator provide customised services to its users.”
ZTE provides a comprehensive range of high-quality wireless, wireline and access & bearer managed services to more than 100 million subscribers in Europe, North America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific. The company recently entered into partnerships with multinational operators such as Telenor, Teliasonera, Telefonica, Orange, H3G, MTN, KPN, STC and ZAIN.
